Brightness and Contrast
We measure the maximum and minimum brightness of each screen in candela per square metre. For the maximum, values over 250cd/m
2 should be sufficient for the majority of environments, while for the minimum the closer to 0 the better, as this will lead to darker and deeper blacks. Dividing the maximum value by the minimum gives us the monitor's contrast ratio.

Brightness Uniformity
For this measurement, we divide the screen into sections and take maximum brightness readings from each. The value presented is the value from the dimmest area as a percentage of that of the brightest. Above 75 percent is considered acceptable, above 80 good and above 85 very good.

Viewing Angles
Finally, we also measure the brightness at a 45 degree viewing angle from the side, top and bottom. From the side, values above 47 percent are good while the best panels will be over 50 percent. From the vertical perspectives, 15 percent is good and 20 percent is very good.
