The write scores were acceptably fast, but even though we tweaked the nuts off the memory, we were unable to get a great memory read bandwidth and low latency result. We could get 3-3-3-9-15tRC-4tWR-1T command out of the board and memory, which would do Everest but it wasn't really very stable. It was much happier lowering the latter timings to -18tRC-5tWR-1T command, which is the result above, but neither setting provided an excellent result. In fact, the Abit X38 board is slower than its P35 and everything else we've tested to date in this synthetic test.

Drive Performance:

A 74GB Western Digital Raptor hard drive was used for SATA testing and a 500GB Seagate eSATA Hard Drive was used for eSATA testing. We recorded the average read speeds in all cases using HD Tach 3.0.1.0's 8MB zone test.

Even if memory performance is poor, the board's disk performance is on par with the rest of the field.
