ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe

Gaming Performance:

Doom 3:

In our high detail gaming tests, the A8N32-SLI shows some interesting performance improvements on the two GeForce 7800 GTs operating in SLI mode, increasing the frame rate by over 8%. In single card mode, the A8N32-SLI was slightly slower than the DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR. We're talking just over 1%, so it's hardly worth writing home about.

In the low detail tests, using two video cards on the nF4 SLI-DR seems to cause a 15% frame rate hit, but the A8N32-SLI returns similar frame rates in both single card and SLI modes.

Far Cry:

Unlike Doom 3, Far Cry uses the Split Frame Rendering mode, so the performance increases aren't quite as dramatic for SLI. We also found that the A8N32-SLI didn't offer anything that the DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR couldn't offer already - the gaming performance was about the same on both motherboards.

We saw a similar performance hit on the LANParty nF4 SLI-DR when using SLI mode in the same way that we did in Doom 3. Although, the performance difference wasn't quite so dramatic this time around. The ASUS A8N32-SLI also suffered a little in this title - the DFI remained fastest in both single card and SLI modes in both high and low detail tests.
