SATA and eSATA Performance

Website: HD Tach 3.0
We tested the SATA and eSATA performance with an Intel X25-M SSD to maximise the use of the SATA connections to show up any core differences in raw performance.

The SATA performance under ACHI (like the other two boards) is excellent, clearly outperforming the other two boards, and thanks to its eSATA bracket the performance is also not limited by the PCI-Express bus. It does mean one or two SATA ports are sacrificed for external use, but it's anywhere from 36 to 86 percent faster.

The addition Gigabyte (JMicron) PCI-Express controller for the extra two SATA sockets performs about the same as the Asus P6T, and also far better than the MSI again.

USB 2.0 Performance

Website: HD Tach 3.0
We tested the USB performance with an Intel X25-M SSD and a SATA to USB adapter to saturate the USB bus in order to look for any performance drops.
