As well as PSUs, Netherlands-based Nexus is also known for its case fans, CPU coolers and some rather
funky mini-ITX cases. The modular-cabled NX-8060 PSU is rated at 600W. Its power is distributed across four 12V rails, each of which is rated at up to 18A. The 12V rails are able to output up to 580W – 97 per cent of the total power available. The rails are configured so that 12V1 powers the CPU, 12V2 is linked to one of the 6-pin PCI-E connectors and 12V3 supplies the motherboard and disk drives, while 12V4 powers the second 6-pin PCI-E connector.
With only 6-pin PCI connectors available, the NX-8060 is unable to power any graphics card with an 8-pin PCI-E connector, such as the HD 4850 X2 and HD 4870 X2, GeForce GTX 280 and GTX 295. Internally the NX-8060 is a mixture of FSP and Zalman PCBs, plus a very quiet 120mm fan. The NX-8060 put in a solid performance in all the tests. The 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails produced a stable voltage at 50 per cent load, where it proved to be 85 per cent efficient. At 100 per cent load its efficiency dropped slightly to 84 per cent.

While the NX-8060 is undoubtedly good value for a 600W PSU, it lacks any advanced features such as 8-pin PCI-E graphics card compatibility and post-shutdown cooling. Given that more and more graphics cards now use 8-pin PCI-E power connectors, it makes more sense to buy a PSU that’s better equipped for the future, such as the
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 650W.
