PYPE Industries is probably not a name you've heard before. However, you've almost certainly seen its work - the guys design funky-looking computer cases, including the one that we saw a few months ago housing a
Scan Isotope system.
Based out of France, the company is trying to do something a little different with chassis design. Whilst we've seen many companies follow the lead of modders and break out of the beige aesthetic, PYPE is really one of the first to take serious inspiration from the modding community and come up with something different.
Keen to unveil its latest creation to the world, PYPE dropped the first production case over to our offices so we could give it the once over. The case is being marketed under the 'Invasion' brand.
The Invasion iX
Let's just begin by reiterating that this is really a preview of the new chassis and system, rather than a review - we don't have confirmed pricing yet, and chances are that Invasion's partner in the UK, Scan, will be speccing the system to its own requirements anyway. However, for the sake of our preview, Invasion outfitted the case with a top-class AM2-based system.
Straight away you can see the cases striking design. Perhaps this is how the Xbox should have looked! It can be decked out in all kinds of different colours and designs, but we like the skull-themed blood red that's here. The front of the case has the power and reset buttons, room for a 3.5" drive and a 5.25" drive, front ports including USB and firewire and a system readout. Oh, and some funky inscription, too.
The case stands on four rubber feet. There's no rocking or instability - just a heavy, cool-as system.
You can see the strong lines that define the X-shape, as well as the small perspex windows on either side. The design is basically a case skin underneath some protective plastic.
