Peripherals maker Razer has announced its latest audio-related product launch, the 'studio-grade' Seirēn USB-connected microphone.
Although the company has traditionally concentrated on gaming products, it has in recent years been taking a broader view of its target market. That's not to say the Seirēn is a great departure, of course, with Razer's co-founder and chief executive Min-Liang Tan arguing it's a perfect fit for the company's customer base. '
Platforms like YouTube and Twitch are a big part of how people experience their media today, and they shape how we interact with each other,' Tan claimed at the launch. '
Tuned for a professional-style setup and able to be assembled and transported quickly and easily, the Razer Seirēn is a microphone designed specifically for streamers and YouTubers.'
The Seirēn connects to a PC through a USB port, and offers four different recording patterns powered by three custom-tuned 14mm condenser capsule microphones: cardioid, stereo, bidirectional and omnidirectional. Each is accessed through an on-body control knob, while an on-board headphone amplifier provides studio-style monitoring of ongoing recordings without tying up the PC's audio output. Optional accessories, to be sold exclusively through Razer's own webshop, will include a shock mount and pop filter.
The company has also announced the simultaneous launch of the Razer Sponsored Streamer Programme, through which it will provide sponsorship of qualifying streamers at three levels of experience with the promise of everything from a free Seirēn microphone to '
a full Razer peripheral suite. Full details of how to apply for the programme are available on the
official website.
The Razer Seirēn is priced at £144.99 from Razer's
web store, with more details and images available on its official
product page.
