Epic, as a company, is having a bit of a turbulent time right now as PC gamers turn against the now console-focused Unreal developer. There is one hope though, one thing which might return Epic to the good graces of PC enthusiasts.

We're talking about a new singleplayer Unreal game, naturally.

Unfortunately, the news is mixed and in a recent interview with Eurogamer Epic's Mark Rein confirms that although a new Unreal is definitely on the cards at some point, there's no plans right now.

"I'm sure that at some point in our future we will make another Unreal, single-player, story-driven game. I'm sure at some point there will be one...[however] there are no plans to do one today."

Ah well, at least Epic seems willing to return to the franchise. Plus, in the meantime, Epic continues on with development of Gears of War 2.

How do you feel about the current change in Epic's reputation? Are they really the bad guys everyone says they are, or are they just misunderstood? Let us know what you think in the forums.
