We've just been chatting to Epic - we're high fliers like that - and one of the things which cropped up in conversation was the reaction of
bit-tech members to the PC Gaming Alliance.
The PC Gaming Alliance was announced back at Game Developers Conference earlier this year and consists of companies like Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Epic and Activision. The Alliance is led by Randy Stude of Intel and is aiming to reinvigorate the PC gaming market, which many have said is in danger of dying out - including
Epic.
The inclusion of Epic in the PCGA has proven to be a sore point with many
bit-tech readers though, who have pointed out how Epic founders Tim Sweeney and Mark Rein have continued to
push more onto the console market,
abandoning their PC roots.
When we spoke to Epic though, PR Manager Dana Cowley seemed unfazed by the reaction of gamers and
bit-tech readers.
"
I noticed the intense debate in the comments [on bit-tech]...It is great to see so many passionate opinions on PC gaming, its challenges, strengths, etc. That's a big reason why we joined the gaming alliance - all these points need to be discussed in an organized manner, and PCGA is the right forum for doing that."
What do you think of the PC Gaming Alliance? Is it useful and purposeful, or is all going to end in tears? Let us know in
the forums.
