Murdered: Soul Suspect independent developer Airtight Games has shut down.
According to a report from
Geekwire, the developer’s Redmond headquarters has a sign outside confirming that it is closing down and the company is currently selling off its office equipment. No mention of the move is made on the company’s website, although a farewell message was posted to Twitter.
’Thanks to all of the fans, family, friends and colleagues who supported us and made the last 10 years possible,’ said an Airtight spokesperson over Twitter. The studio went on to thank everyone that had worked on its portfolio of games including Dark Void, Quantum Conundrum, Soul Fjord, Pixld, DerpBike and the most recently released Murdered: Soul Suspect.
Airtight games was founded in 2004. In April this year, the developer shed a small number of staff members which according to Airtight president Jim Deal talking to IGN were part of the
‘natural ebb and flow of game production’.
Former studio creative director Kim Swift, best known for her work on Portal, also left Airtight Games in April to join the fledgling Amazon Game Studios.
The studio is closing down less than a month after the release of ghost detective title Murdered: Soul Suspect. The game received a mixed to negative critical reception thanks to poor combat mechanics and clunky dialogue.
