Sony has found itself at the centre of a lawsuit because Killzone: Shadow Fall does not run at 1080p as advertised.

The case, brought by a California-based gamers, states that Sony advertised the Playstation 4 Killzone title as running natively at 1080p but that the game instead used ‘a technological shortcut’ to achieve similar results.

The complaint is specifically targeted at Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer mode, which was assessed by Guerilla Games explained their method of temporal reprojection behind the multiplayer upscaling on its official website following the assessment by Digital Foundry. The technology essentially placed at locations that are predicted based on the movement of currently rendered pixels which results in a larger but blurrier picture. The lawsuit however argues that temporal reprojection is not the same as native 1080p which is what was initially promised.

The law firm Edelson PC which is handling the case also managed the class action suit against Sega and Gearbox concerning false advertising surrounding Aliens: Colonial Marines and have also handled a class action suit against Sony and EA over undelivered free copies of Battlefield 1943 to Playstation 3 owners.
