Paradox Interactive has
announced a new hardcore strategy game set in feudal Japan, called Sengoku, in the run up to the release of Total War: Shogun 2.
The game currently has no release date, but will likely be a PC exclusive judging from Paradox Interactive's track record.
Starting in 1467, Sengoku bases itself around the civil war that follows the collapse of the Ashikaga Shoguns in a brand of strategy which Paradox claims is deep and character driven. Players will control a noble family which makes a bid for authority amidst the chaos.
Sengoku will allow players to recruit samurai and ninja, among others, to attack other families, but much of the strategy sounds like it operates on the social level - drawing immediate comparisons to
Paradox's Crusader Kings series.
