GamesCom 2010: Paradox Interactive has announced a new title in the Supreme Ruler series at GamesCom today, Supreme Ruler: Cold War.

Interestingly, Paradox says that, although the game will be based in 2020, recent real-world events will be an integral part of the story.

Gameplay will be about what you'd expect; grand-strategy, unstable governments, economic instability and lots of military action.

Players will be able to take the role of either the United States or the Soviet Union in the core campaign, while a sandbox mode opens the field to all nationalities in a post-World War II setting.

A multiplayer mode has been announced too, letting up to 16 players go head to head with either diplomatic or military actions. There's also a new and enhanced 3D graphics to help keep things look pretty, if that matters to you.

We'll be catching up with Paradox at the show tomorrow and will bring you any new details we can. Until then, let us know your thoughts in the forums.
