A version of asynchronous top-down PC strategy title Frozen Synapse has been announced for the Playsation 3 and Playstation Vita.

Frozen Synapse: Tactics is scheduled for a 2013 release and will be published and co-developed by Double Eleven, the developers behind LittleBigPlanet Vita. Original Frozen Synapse developer Mode 7 is happy to be working with the studio.

'We have put our trust in Double Eleven to translate our original vision for a Playstation audience. They have impressed us with their commitment to creating a completely new version for Sony's awesome hardware,' said Mode 7 managing director and co-founder Paul Taylor.

Double Eleven will be producing new artwork for the game but it is not clear how the new version will differ as the studio's art director has stated that they wish to reinvent the game's aesthetics.

'Frozen Synapse: Tactics is not simply a transition of the original onto console, we will be giving it a complete Double Eleven makeover,' said Double Eleven chief operating officer Mark South.

The original Frozen Synapse was released in 2011 and clocked up several very high review scores across different gaming media outlets. To date, the game has sold more than 430,000 copies and it has also featured in Humble Indie Bundle promotions.

An expansion pack, Frozen Synapse Red, was released last year and introduced a co-op mode as well as a new single player campaign.
