Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai has said that even if he were given a simple yes/no choice then he still wouldn't be interested in launching an Xbox 360 exclusive on the PlayStation 3 and would rather be shot than be forced to do so.
Microsoft on the other hand don't have any such qualms, having recently secured the right to publish
Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360, stealing the thunder of what had previously been a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Asked by Swedish newspaper
Aftonbladet (via Kotaku) which game he would want for the PlayStation 3 from the list of Xbox 360 exclusives, Kaz Hirai said that he did not want any of them at all...
Aftonbladet: If you had to choose ONE exclusive Xbox 360 title and launch it for the PS3 instead, which game would it be?
Hirai: I don't think I have to choose any.....
Aftonbladet: You have to pick one.
Hirai: Again, I don't think I have to pick one because we have such a fantastic lineup of games.
Refusing to give up, Aftonbladet told Kaz it was a matter of life and death, but Hirai remained firm.
Aftonbladet: But if someone is holding a gun to your head and you have to choose one. Which game would it be?
Hirai: Okay...then they have to shoot me, because I really don't think we need any.
The comment harks back to Jack Tretton's insistence that Sony
refuses to pay or provide incentives to developers to create games exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
