Here's a great idea for you. Ever wanted to stick it to the man? Show the RIAA that we don't need their poncy chart music? Well, comrade, today's the day.

It's Bum Rush the Charts day. What's that? Well, the idea is that today, fans of independent music (and RIAA haters) push an independent label band to the top of the iTunes chart. Right now, number one is Beyonce and Shakira, so there's a bit of work to do.

The track is Mine Again by Black Lab, and you can easily find it in the iTunes Store by just searching for Black Lab. Buy the track, then tell all your friends to do the same - and with a bit of luck, it could hit the charts and send a signal to the record industry types that want to do over internet music.

You can also buy the track through this link, which will give a cut of the track's profits to an education scholarship.

To make sure the net community hears about this, you can Digg it, too.

Whilst it's true that buying from iTunes isn't exactly a textbook definition of sticking it to the man, it is at least talking in a language that the music industry will understand - money.

Is this a good idea? Bad idea? Let us know your thoughts over in the forums.
