G.Skill has announced the world's fastest 128GB DDR4 memory kit.
The company claims the new G.SKill Ripjaws 4 series kit's rated speed of 2,800MHz is the quickest out there in 128GB capacity. The kit is made up of eight 1.35V 16GB DIMMs, which use timings of CL16-16-16-36.
The DIMMs themselves use Samsung 8GB ICs that are made using a 20nm fabrication process. 16GB modules have been available for server systems for some time, but the new speeds and capacities are paving the way for DDR4 kits to be available to workstation users and PC enthusiasts using motherboards based on Intel's X99 chipset.
The kit, of course, supports quad-channel mode and has been validated on Asus' X99 Rampage V Extreme motherboard and Haswell-E CPUs, which were released last year.
The 16GB modules come in a variety of capacities up to 128GB/8modules and also in speeds between 2,133MHz and 2,800MHz.
“During development of these DDR4 16GB modules, we see amazing future potential for 128GB (16GBx8) memory kits in extreme high capacity operation on upcoming platforms,” says Tequila Huang, Vice President of Research & Development, G.SKILL.
“We will be witnessing the beginning of a new set of standards for extreme capacity and performance DDR4 memory kits on both current and future computing platforms. Needless to say, we are very excited for this release.”
