Asus is continuing its expansion into peripherals, launching a trio of new gaming accessories branded Cerberus for anyone who wants a fully-branded desktop.
Named for the Greek mythological multi-headed hound guarding the gates of the underworld and joining the company's existing Cerberus headsets, Asus' new Cerberus gaming peripherals cover the three basics: a keyboard, a mouse, and a mouse mat, each featuring aggressive imagery and a dedicated Cerberus logo. The mouse mat, to begin, uses a textured heavy-weave fabric in place of the increasingly common smooth surface seen on competing mats, claimed to offer maximum compatibility with LED and laser lit optical sensing systems. The design is further claimed to be fray-resistant thanks to embroidered edges.
Moving on to something with moving parts, the Cerberus keyboard offers a splash-proof design - complete with integrated drain hole - based around a rubber membrane system in a SECC steel metal plate. Although there are no mechanical switches to be found, the company has still thought to include bi-colour quad-brightness LED backlighting along with 12 dedicated macro keys added to a full-size layout.
The Cerberus keyboard is designed to be paired with the Cerberus mouse, unsurprisingly, which offers an ambidextrous design with four-stage resolution switch for choosing between multiple sensitivity levels. The current setting of the switch is fed back via an LED-backlit logo, which changes shade depending on the sensitivity currently selected. Further design tweaks include rubber side grips to enhance control for those with sweaty palms.
The Cerberus family is available in the UK channel now, and by the pricing it's clear that Asus is aware they're not specified to sit at the top of the tree: the gaming mouse is available for £17.84, the keyboard for £40.79, and the mouse mat for £9.98. More information on the
keyboard and
mouse is available from the official website.
