Sharkoon has announced two new entries in its SilentStorm power supply range, offering Gold and Bronze SFX supplies for small form factor systems.

Designed around the SFX form factor, a considerable shrinkage of the traditional ATX format used by most desktop power supplies, the first entry in the range is the SilentStorm SFX Gold 500W. As its name suggests, the supply offers a 500W output with 80 PLUS Gold certification. Measuring 1230mm x 125mm x 63mm, the power supply is fully modular offering two 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors, CPU and motherboard connectors, four SATA, two four-pin Molex, and a floppy power connector. The PSU includes a 120mm fan designed for low noise, and comes with the usual raft of over-volt, under-volt, over-power, over-temperature, excess current and short-circuit protections.

For compact system builders on a budget, the second new entry is the SilentStorm SFX Bronze. Launching in 350W and 450W variants, the equally compact PSUs are 80 PLUS Bronze certified and match the Gold variant in dimensions. The 350W model includes non-modular cabling with a single six-pin PCIe connector, CPU and motherboard connectors, two SATA, two four-pin Molex, and a single floppy connector; the 450W model adds an extra SATA connector an a 6+2-pin PCIe connector to the mix. Both are cooled by a smaller 80mm fan than the Gold model.

All models in the SilentStorm family are covered by a three-year manufacturer's warranty, and while UK pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed European recommended retail pricing has been set at €79.90 for the Gold and an entry point of €49.99 for the Bronze (around £57 and £36 respectively). More information is available on the SilentStorm SFX Bronze and SilentStorm SFX Gold product pages.
