I also needed a “floor” for the ebony cube. This would also be very structurally significant since it would not only support the cube itself, but all of the hardware inside of it.

I originally made this out of the same 1/8 inch aluminium but I replaced this with more 2mm AC Ryan aluminium for aesthetic purposes.

When the “floors” were done, it was time to start building the rest of the frame. I decided to start with the only section fully designed at the time which was the portion inside the cube.

For this, I used a method similar to Yuugou involving 3/8 inch aluminium bars and 2mm aluminium screwed together with many Button and Flat head socket screws. After a bit of a time and a broken tap, things were beginning to take shape.

Once the top section was roughed out, I started work on the bottom section. These needed to house the DVD drive and the full size, 600 watt Cooler Master iGreen power supply. To do this I built brackets out of the 1/8 inch aluminium.

This portion would also need to support and connect to the cube portion and to do this, I again used 1/8 aluminium, and attached some blocks using screws where the floor of the top section would screw into. I also build a floor over the DVD drive on which the power supply would sit and be attached.

To securely attach the power supply, I made another bracket out of the same aluminium which would attach to the sides of the frame. This helped in hiding the less aesthetically pleasing parts of the system from the outside of the case which was one of the objectives of this project.
