Polishing: Friend or Foe?
You see it on almost every case mod now - shiny polishing is in. Pandemic it is, but isn’t it just the best polish you’ve ever seen and everyone has a guide on how to perfect it, machine polishing is the bomb…hand polishing??? Anyone…
Yes, that’s exactly what I did - and after it was all completed, I would still do it by hand all over again. By machine the whole job would have only taken a few hours, compared to a few days or maybe even a week or so by hand...but if you can get past the swollen and bruised fingers, the cramping of both hands and fingers and the fact that you swear it’ll never work, then yeah - it's worth it.
I had no machine help - well, I did try it for a while, but I found I can hand polish better than I can machine polish. The results weren’t perfect, but I was never going for perfect...I just wanted to see if it could be achieved, and it can!
First up was the front panel and the top panel - these are some of the biggest, most notable pieces of aluminium, so I wanted to do them before I was sick of everything else.
I even made sure to get the important detail pieces - the case feet, for example. Even the whole motherboard tray got a good rub-down.
The outcome, in my opinion, was just incredible. With all that shiny metal sitting there, it was easy to feel like the work eventually paid off.
