Panel work

Hangar 101 by SleepStreamer Panel work

When I started the project, I wanted to make all the panels from 3mm black acrylic, giving a sleek, lightweight look. However, after a while, when I had done some of the initial work, I realized that it would be way too much plastic, there would be too much gloss on the mod. An attractive surface needs texture, and acrylic is perfectly smooth. Therefore, I decided to change the outer panels for 3mm aluminium, which I sanded to give it a brushed look.

Here is come close detailing of some of the side attachments - these are a couple of "vents" made from mirrored and orange acrylic. There will be two of these on either side. I thought that the it would look pretty good to have small accents of acrylic against the brushed aluminium backdrop.

The case would need some decent cooling, and the top panel would house three 120mm fans. Here you can see me milling out mounts for those fans using my dremel, router table and a millbit.
