Hypercube² Part II Hyperscreen: Stand

HYPERSCREEN: STAND

This turned out to be the most difficult part of the LCD mod. After a few days brainstorming, I came up with a stand that, hopefully will bear the weight of the whole display.

I had a scrap sheet of Aluminium sitting in a corner. It had a few coats of paint on it so I first sanded them down, and then I put the markings on where I had to cut. The idea of the stand is that it is made from a single piece of metal: the middle piece will be bend over to create an arm that runs to the middle of the screen.

A lot of cutting and filing later, it was time to bend the middle arm. Unfortunately, I don\'t have pictures of this process but I just used a piece of wood placed underneath and started to pull it up until it was the right angle - no great magic in that.

Here it is, with one half of the mounting bracket the LCD will attach to. But it needs a bit of work.

Lots more filing to round the edges, and I\'m half way: the same type of bracket will be used on the back of the screen.

I tried attaching the bracket with metal glue, but it didn\'t stay on. Instead, I screwed it on with one screw - this way the display can also tilt sideways.
