Charge! by Frenk Janse (Frenkie)

Project Log: Here

Frenk is another modding veteran who has also been features in the pages of Mod of the Year before with his brilliant R2D2 project, which was in the top ten in 2009's competition. Charge! is instantly recognisable to any PC gamer - it's a charging station for Gordon Freeman's HEV suit in Half-Life. The life-size project began its life as two bland tower cases, which were cut up and moulded together, with metal sheeting covering much of the exterior.

Meanwhile, a water-cooling reservoir played the part of the yellow fill indicator from the machine in the game. A subtle paint job later and Charge! certainly brings back desperation-filled memories when our suit was drained in the game. It was also nominated in April's Mod of the Month competition.
