Logos and Back Panel
To polish off the case I went and got some computer cut vinyl lettering done at
HIE Signs. These were separate letters that came stuck to a wax paper backing to enable the whole word to be easily applied in one go.
Some were 'reversed' as they were being stuck on the inside of the front and side panels.
I got them done in a frosted silver finish. I didn't want the appliques to dominate so I chose a complimentary colour to the whole case that would still stand out, but not glaringly so. The front panel received one...
...as did the side and the chrome junction cylinder.
The quality is fantastic! The large applique was applied after spraying the side panel with some water and detergent. This allowed me to position the applique easily and made it easier to squegee out all the air bubbles.
PCI Card Retention
All the PCI cards are held in place by an adjustable acrylic piece attached to the rear of the case. It needed some final touches...
The first picture shows the original plastic thumbscrews that held the piece in place. I re-tapped the holes and used my own stainless socket head cap screws. These were cut to size and some large chrome washers added. Along the left-hand edge of the retaining piece, I laid a thin strip of black foam double-sided tape to aid in preventing the PCI cards moving about once locked in place.
