Resin-ate
After several days, the clay had hardened sufficiently for it to be lifted off the lid. One thing I noticed was that the clay had shrunk more than anticipated preventing the clay from sitting properly on the lid. To cure this, the curved edges were ground down with a view to being rebuilt once the clay had be glued to the lid.
The lid's shiny surface was roughened to give the epoxy resin better adhesion.
The epoxy resin was mixed and applied to the back of the clay.
The clay was clamped in place and left for 24 hours so that the resin had time to harden.
Once the adhesive had cured and the clamps removed, the skulls were given a test fit and any necessary modifications made to the ‘earth’ indentations to compensate for the clay's shrinkage, likewise around the Rock logo and power LEDs.
