In Sony Vegas, the new Phenom X3 8750 delivers similar performance to the Athlon 64 X2 6400+, which comes with an 800MHz higher clock speed but one less core, proving that the number of cores does matter in this test as well. However, even despite this fact, the new X3 trails behind the higher-clocked dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo processors at its stock speed.
When overclocked, the deficit is made up, but we’re not factoring in how well Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors overclock as well – this means that the Phenom X3 8750 is pretty much nullified by the dual-core competition in this particular test.

Website: Cinebench
Maxon Cinebench is based on Maxon's popular animation software, Cinema 4D, which is used extensively by studios and production houses worldwide for 3D content creation. We've used the built-in CPU benchmark, which uses a 3D scene file to render a photo-realistic image of a concept bike. The scene makes use of various CPU-intensive features such as reflection, ambient occlusion, area lights and procedural shaders.

Where the X3 9750 lacks in clock speed, it makes up in core count in Cinebench 10 – an application renowned for its parallelism. It manages to match—and even outperform—the dual-core competition from the blue corner and the overclock enables it to deliver similar performance to the slower quad-core Phenom processors in the xCPU test.
