Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT Nitro+ Review

As both cards are high-performance models, it is important to discuss their relative strengths at a 4K resolution.

Taking the Sapphire Radeon RX 6800 Nitro+ first, it is a definite, clear step-up from the RX 5700 XT. It is over 50 per cent faster at the higher resolution and can be called a 4K-capable card with excellent image quality settings. Though not quite as fast as the RTX 3080 from Nvidia, anyone able to get their hands on one won't be disappointed with the pure performance on offer.

Practically silent at full load, it is a really good choice for anyone primarily gaming at QHD and FHD, and it naturally makes a good partner for a FreeSync Premium screen at a matching resolution.

Priced at £639, the main problem, and one afflicting all cards, is finding it in stock anywhere. If you are able to secure one at the SRP, we'd urge you to go for it.

Switching gears out to the XT card that's practically identical, all the good lavished on the non-XT applies here. It provides the same rasterisation performance as a GeForce RTX 3080, which can be considered immense, but falls short in ray tracing... for now.

Built superbly and also very quiet under load, it's easy enough to recommend, even at the £700 price point. Like others, stock is in severe constraint, so any well-heeled gamer ought to click on the buy button if it does surface.

Don't let the lack of stock blight your thinking about these high-end cards. Sapphire does an admirable job in building best-in-class Radeons that definitely ought to be on your performance radar, stock permitting.
