Warranty

Nesteq provides a three year warranty with its Nova 600W External power supply, which is slightly better than the industry average of two, but still not as great as Antec's or Cooler Master's five years. Nesteq requires you to keep the receipt and fill out the warranty card inside the manual should you need to RMA the PSU.

Bear in mind that it may be an external unit but it certainly isn't waterproof and that kind of accident is not covered by the warranty, so sticking your cups of tea, coffee or juice on top is really not a good idea.

Value

It's hard to gauge value of a device with such a specific an application as this. Obviously, if you are considering an external PSU, apart from the very few who want it for the novelty, most will look at this kind of unit because it fills a specific need.

Therefore, in a market with no other real competitors, the value has to be quite high because you have no other choice? Or, you could just buy a bigger case and a quiet power supply from someone like Seasonic, Corsair, Zalman or any other manufacturer renowned for quiet PSUs.

For a direct comparison to other 600W products it's massively more expensive, at around twice the price of other 600Ws, but then you'd never even consider an external unit anyway.

Final Thoughts

It's a great looking and innovative product with so much potential, that actually works silently rather than just claiming it on the packaging like so many others. But unfortunately there was a complete lacking in attention to detail: the PSU fails on half of its rails as soon as you hit full load and the cabling quality and connectors used are nothing special.

At £130 including VAT, it is a lot of money to spend and if you're using it for a little case with reasonably low power components for a silent system, you'll likely get away with it. 3.3V and 5V are less important that 12V rails in a modern PC, but you're more likely to encounter stability issues if you use it with a higher specced PC.

In all, good concept but could certainly do better.
