+12V Rail Tests

For all individual rail tests, we take a reading of the voltage output of each of the major rails (+12V, +5V and +3.3V). This is done at three load levels: low, medium and high, which vary based on the wattage of PSU being tested. We are looking for results as close to the nominal values as possible. Higher loads are more likely to highlight any instabilities. Any output that falls outside of Intel's specifications is considered a fail and highlighted in red.

The cross-load focus, in the first instance, loads the supplies with 70A on the 12V line(s) and 2A on the 3.3V and 5V. Cross-load 2 turns the tables and places 12V on the two minor lines and just 2A on the meaty 12V. The purpose here is to see how well the supplies respond when lines are pushed and pulled in opposite directions.
