Google's Street View service is now equipped to accept photographs taken by third parties and map them onto a 3D space - although the fact that faces aren't blurred could cause concern.
Google has added 3D building meshes for almost every structure in Manhattan to its Google Earth software - and the result is pretty darn impressive.
The University of Souther California has taken the wraps of a project which aims to seamlessly integrate fully spatially aligned 2D photographs into 3D worlds such as Google Earth.
Later today, Google Earth will get yet another new feature - YouTube videos about places visited in the programme.
Google has shut down the Gaia project, which reverse-engineered its popular Google Earth feature. Though no big surprise, it's a loss to non-Windows users.
