BitTorrent search engine TorrentSpy has voluntarily shut up shop ahead of a court ruling that would force it to reveal personally identifiable information about its users.

The torrenting world has taken a couple of major hits this week. First isoHunt blocks US users and then Demonoid goes offline.

The popular torrent tracker is fighting back against the lawsuit it was previously hit with. The site claims that the MPAA illegally hired a hacker to dig for dirt on it.

The MPAA has filed another seven lawsuits against several hubs responsible for distributing copyrighted material.
