Cliff 'CliffyB' Bleszinski has announced his new company Boss Key's first product: a post-apocalyptic gravity-bending title dubbed LawBreakers.
Bleszinski announce his departure from long-time employer Epic Games
back in October 2012, and successfully remained under the radar until
announcing his return in July 2014. A week later,
Boss Key Productions was revealed to the world, founded with Guerilla Games co-founder Arjan Brusse, with whom Bleszinski had worked on classic 90s platformer Jazz Jackrabbit. Details of the company's first project, codenamed Bluestreak, were expected to follow but it's only now the pair have broken their silence.
LawBreakers, the company's first planned product launch, is a post-apocalyptic shooter with a twist: control over gravity, made possible thanks to experiments on the moon which caused the heavenly body to shatter - which, for some reason, has ruined the Earth's ability to properly maintain its gravity well, a handy plot device which will be waved away in the game's lore under a blanket of pseudoscience and jargon.
Full details of the game and its capabilities are being kept back until the release of a gameplay trailer late tomorrow, but Bleszinski has shared a cinematic announcement trailer which is reproduced below.
