Feet
The feet are obviously an important part to get right because they will not only be supporting the entire weight of the final model, but are responsible for it standing up in terms of balance. Luckily, the original design features these rather hefty clogs (above).
Another one and a half sheets of polystyrene later and we've got a pair of boots. They're knee-high Pretty Woman style but hey -- if they worked for Julia Roberts then they can work for this guy.
It took five whole sheets of polystyrene to create the legs from ankle to groin. Thanks to the wonders of 3D Studio Max I can show you the original renders and the foam model thus far. Please excuse my kitchen in the background.
Remember my cause and effect comments on page two? The system spec dictated the motherboard, which in turn dictated the chest size and so on? Bearing in mind certain minimum dimensions and keeping everything in proportion has resulted in a very large model indeed. It is hard to see from these pictures but the ACU is now two metres tall. In old money, that is over six feet six inches! In the game, the ACU towers over the landscape; in real life that is also proving true.
