The flat black cables look very stylish - we've seen them before when we looked at the Ultra X3 PSUs in the past, but with the X3s every cable was this style whereas the Silent Pro's ATX and EPS 12V cables are the standard tubular braided type.

Cooler Master might have only included four peripheral connectors on the back of the Silent Pro, but it throws in a choice of five cables to use with it in combinations that'll suit your case build. Nine SATA and a couple of Molexes, or six SATA and five Molexes should be enough for every build bar the most hardware extreme setups. If that's the case, you'll be wanting the UCP Ultimate series anyway.


The connectors fit with ease and even though the clips on the 5-pin peripheral plugs don't face outwards, there's plenty of space to get your pinkie in. The same can't be said for the PCI-Express clips though, but it doesn't take too much more effort to unplug one before getting the other above it out.

The unassuming look of the flat black cables are easy to hide in a case because they fold out the way unlike rounded braids. If you're clever with your routing and building this can detract from the fact that Cooler Master misses out on offering variation in its cable lengths. The only problem with these all black is that you can't mod it easily tell which one's which if you're modding them.


We've seen better braiding quality for the two cables that do have it - the EPS 12V doesn't go right back into the PSU, even though the ATX cable does but the glue holding the heatshrink in place at the other end came loose allowing the braid to slide up and down. Not exactly the kind of quality finish we were expecting from Cooler Master.


Cooler Master misses a couple of tricks in not giving the Molex connectors push-release bits of plastic, and at least some of the SATA connectors aren't perpendicular to the cables either, so they can't fit as flush as we'd like when connecting up a row of hard drives for example.
